Richard Madden is a hot property right now.
Having won a Golden Globe award and an NTA gong for his turn as David Budd in the BBC One political thriller Bodyguard, the former Game of Thrones star is under the watchful eye of Hollywood and the film industry.
There has already been a lot of chatter regarding Madden taking on the role of 007 himself James Bond once Daniel Craig steps down from the role for Bond 25, but now it seems like even more of a possibility.
An unnamed producer of Bodyguard told Mail Online : “We don’t know if Richard will do series two.”
They added that it is the Bond role that could get in the way.
“It depends what happens with James Bond, we don’t know yet.”
It has been reported that Bond series producer Barbara Broccoli has spoken with Richard Madden about taking on the role of Ian Flemming’s iconic spy.
Richard previously told GQ that he is, of course, keen on the role.
‘”I love the movies. I’ve read all the books. If you talk about it, you’ll curse it.”
Bond 25 currently stands as Daniel Craig’s final outing in the role, with the film being directed by True Detective season one helmer Cary Joji Fukunaga.
The film will see the return of Lea Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swann, Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny, and Ralph Fiennes as M.
We may also see Oscar-nominated Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek portray the Bond villain.
Other favourites for the role of Bond are Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston and Henry Golding.
Bond 25 is released on February 14, 2020.
