James Bond has had a rocky journey to the big screen and it still has a way to go as filming continues in Norway.
Director Cary Fukunaga has been seen in Matera, Italy scouting out film locations while crews have already been seen filming in the icy Norway.
Daniel Craig hasn’t been spotted yet on location, though he was seen flying out.
But what we’re all waiting for is the big James Bond press conference where the team announce the title and cast officially.
The conference is traditionally held at Pinewood Studios before principal photography begins, but that’s well underway already.
So when can we expect the press conference to be held?
Variety reported that production is on track to begin at the end of the month. It confirmed the news in the same report that announced Phoebe Waller-Bridge is polishing the script at Daniel Craig’s request to inject more humour into it.
Of course, we’ve already seen the team in Norway filming a frozen lake scene with a masked man and little girl sans Craig.
If we use the Variety report as a measure then filming could begin with Craig at the end of April, so we could still get our press conference within the next week or so.
This is all conjecture of course, and nothing beats good ol’ confirmation. We’ll let you know when Bond 25 confirm the conference or the title.
Bond 25 is rumoured to be called Eclipse thanks to a clothes designer listing her latest job on her CV online next to B25 Productions under that title.
Initially it was thought to be Spectre but Barbara Broccoli has nixed that rumour.
It hasn’t been an easy road for Bond 25, the release date was pushed back from October 2019 to April 2020, then Danny Boyle quit the project.
He’d brought in John Hodge to rework the script penned by regular Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, but the studio didn’t want to take the story in the direction they were going. It’s rumoured that Boyle wanted to kill off Bond.
Fukunaga was brought in to replace Boyle in September 2018 with a new writer, Scott Z.Burns, working on the script from February.
Now Waller-Bridge is taking a look at the script hopefully Bond 25 is back on track. Waller-Bridge, if credited, will be the first female writer to be since Johanna Harwood who reworked Dr Bo and worked on From Russia With Love in ’63.
Bond 25 is released in UK cinemas on April 8, 2020.
