Idris Elba's fiancee laughs off suggestion she's against James Bond role: 'Yeah right!'

Last month Idris Elba proposed to Sabrina Dhowre, and not long after it was recently reported his fresh fiancee wasn’t too keen on him being the next James Bond, should he take over from Daniel Craig when he hangs up his 007 hat.

And it all came down to the housework, apparently.

Ah, marriage, right?

Well, not quite, it turns out.

It was earlier reported by a newspaper Sabrina said Idris ‘supported gender equality’ but he was always so busy with his various projects ‘they didn’t always share the chores at home’.

Sabrina added that with Idris already busy she couldn’t imagine how busy he’d get should he take on the iconic role of 007, which is often filmed in many a far-reaching land.

Now she’s revealed to Metro.co.uk that wasn’t the case at all.

‘I don’t want him to take on an iconic role because of housework?!? Yeah right!,’ she told us. ‘Of course, I would want him to do it it would be amazing.

‘I think he is brilliant enough to succeed at any role and that it would be amazing.’

When it came to the question of Idris gallivanting around the globe and leaving her with the Hoovering, Sabrina said it was no biggie.

She said: ‘Being busy is just part of the job but I get to see him do amazing things.’

Between fronting his own show, The Long Run, and his side job as a DJ, we can see where her worries lie should he then be getting around the world for a few years filming Bond.

It comes as Idris, 45, has been linked with the Bond role for a while now – with pundits both for and against a black Bond, and an older Bond, come the time Idris would start filming the thing.

Idris himself isn’t even sold on the whole conversation.

He explained: ‘It’s interesting that the James Bond thing continues to go. I think it’s more about ‘we just want to have a black guy play James Bond’ rather than, “Idris Elba, the actor, play James Bond”. That’s the part that I’m like “ugh, come on.”‘

Fair call.

For a long time James Norton was favourite to take the Bond title, then Tom Hardy overtook the Happy Valley star.

Since then, pretty much every actor has been brought up in conversation as to whether or not they could be the next person to step into Craig’s shoes.

Okay, maybe not every actor, that might be an exaggeration, but the likes of Harry Styles, Danny Boyle, Daniel Kaluuya, Chris Hemsworth, Hugh Jackman, Tyla Carr and even Meghan Markle were all at some point in the running to be the next Bond – you get the point.

What we’re saying is, it’s anyone’s game right now.
